How do I build my part number?

SPEEDOMETERS
Q. Why is my
Monster GPS stuck at the 9 o'clock position?
A1. Antenna is not plugged into the back
of the gauge. Check connection.
A2: Gauge is not receiving information from antenna.
Check connections in 3-pin plug from antenna at back of gauge. Make sure
wires are not broken. Make sure pins in plug are pushed all the way in.
A3: Gauge is not receiving 12 volts. Check voltage at red and
black wires off 6-wire harness.
A4: Defective antenna. Contact us or send in to us for testing
/ repair / replacement.
A5: If using your own GPS unit (Ex: Garmin, Lawrence),
make sure you have connected the "output" to white pigtail in back of gauge.
Make sure unit is set up to communicate with speedometer. (NMEA 0183 Version
2.0-3.01, Baud rate-4800, transmitted sentence-GPRMC)
Q. Why doesn't my speedo reading match the GPS reading?
A1. Your pickup (pitot tube) may be bent or clogged or there may be a leak in the line or fittings.
A2. The pickup (pitot tube) may be in aerated water, typical to stepped bottoms.
The pitot tube may need to be adjusted so it sets deeper in the water.
A3. Older GPS units without differential correction may be slightly inaccurate.
A4. If the speedo seems to be very inaccurate compared to the GPS, the problem is typically lack of water pressure (aerated water) to the speedo).
Q. Where is the best place for a pitot tube on my boat?
A. Since there is a wide variety in the configurations of boat bottoms, it's impossible to state the absolute, perfect location for a pitot tube mounting
on every hull. It's extremely important to place the pitot tube pickup in such a position as to maintain the most constant flow of water to the tube. In all cases, the tip of the tube must end below the bottom of the hull to allow constant flow, as this will insure a more accurate reading.

TACHOMETERS
Q. Why doesn't my tach pointer rest at zero when the engine is off?
A. This is a characteristic of the air core movement. Once the ignition is turned on, the pointer will return to the correct position.

THROTTLES
Q. What are the throttle dimensions?
A. Obviously, it depends on the number of handles. The chart below shows both the cutout and overall dimensions of the common sizes.

2 1/4" W x 7 3/4" L
3 3/8" W x 7 3/4" L
4 3/8" W x 7 3/4" L
5 1/2" W x 7 3/4" L
6 5/8" W x 7 3/4" L
7 3/4" W x 7 3/4" L
10 1/4" W x 7 3/4" L |
Q. How do I adjust the lever tension or the resistance of the handles?
A. Good news! You don't have to remove the unit! Simply insert a 3/16" allen
wrench through the rubber boot at the base of the throttle and turn the screw to reach the desired resistance. Periodic lubrication of the rubber boot is needed. Teflon base lubricant works best.

GENERAL
What color face/dials are available?
4 face colors
“It the depends on the line of gauges. We offer white with black graphics,

black with white graphics.”
What color rims are available? 13 rim colors
“We offer 13 standard rim colors. We also offer a choice of rims
including the very substantial and eye-catching “super” rim.”
If I buy bezels will they match the other accessories?
“All of our powdercoated items are done by one company to eliminate color
variation. Bezels, drink holders, fire extinguisher mounts, engine vents,
grab handles, etc. will all match!”
How soon will my order ship?
“Most orders ship within 24 hours.”
Where will my order ship from?
“Order will ship from our facility in Grayslake, Illinois, just north of
Chicago.”
Why can’t I order on-line?
“There are several reasons we have decided not to offer on-line ordering.
First, as many of you know from experience, we are friends with many of our
customers, they came from repeated personal conversations with them over the
years. As we got to know them and what they wanted and needed, it helped us
plan and grow towards supplying the needs of the industry. Not only are the
conversations interesting – knowing who’s doing what to a boat – it’s very
beneficial from a R&D standpoint. It’s like continual “info input” or
comment card for us.
Another reason is we offer a lot of options. As an example, for gauges we
offer 4 dial/face colors and 9 rim colors. To list each and every one on the
web would be incredibly time consuming, especially because we keep adding more
options all the time. We’d rather spend our time talking with you and
letting you know what’s available.
Then there’s those things people forget about. There’s nothing worse than
ordering the wrong thing or not knowing you needed another part. Let’s say
you ordered a gauge but, did you get the sender? Did you know you needed
one? Do you know what size? How about mechanical indicators? Port or
Starboard? Horizontal or Vertical? Merc or Livorsi? What colors???? See what
I mean?
There are many other reasons, but, for us, it’s simply more personal and, we
take all the guesswork out of ordering! You’ll get what you want and need,
the first time!”
